WWAGS Partners with NABARD for IDP Training Project in Manipur

The Wangjing Women and Girls Society (WWAGS), a dedicated non-profit organization, is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the NABARD Regional Office in Imphal. Together, they are implementing a significant project aimed at providing comprehensive training to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across five key districts in Manipur: Kakching, Thoubal, Imphal West, Imphal East, and Bishnupur.

This ambitious initiative, known as the "IDP Training Project," aims to empower and uplift 3,000 IDPs through targeted skill development programs. The project's primary goal is to equip these individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to improve their livelihoods and achieve self-sufficiency.

Manipur has faced numerous challenges related to displacement, with many individuals and families being uprooted due to socio-political conflicts and environmental issues. This project seeks to address the pressing needs of these displaced populations by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities. Through comprehensive training modules, participants will gain skills in various trades and professions, enabling them to secure employment or start their own businesses.

WWAGS, with its long history of working towards the upliftment of marginalized communities, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to this project. The organization has been instrumental in promoting income-generating programs, adult education, health, and sanitation initiatives across Manipur. By partnering with NABARD, a leading development finance institution, WWAGS aims to leverage additional resources and expertise to maximize the impact of the IDP Training Project.

The training programs will cover a wide range of vocational skills, including agriculture, handicrafts, tailoring, and more. In addition to skill development, the project will also focus on enhancing the participants' understanding of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and market linkages.

Through this collaborative effort, WWAGS and NABARD hope to create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of thousands of IDPs, fostering resilience and self-reliance in the face of adversity. This initiative represents a significant step towards building a more inclusive and sustainable future for all residents of Manipur.

WWAGS Partners with NABARD for Watershed Development in Manipur

The Wangjing Women and Girls Society (WWAGS) is excited to announce a pivotal partnership with the NABARD Regional Office in Imphal to implement the project "Restoring Water Security through Springshed Development in Four Villages under the Catchment Area of Wangjing River in Manipur." This initiative focuses on addressing critical water security issues in the region, ensuring sustainable water resources for the local communities.

Water scarcity and management have been long-standing challenges in the catchment area of the Wangjing River. This project aims to restore and secure water resources through the innovative approach of springshed development. By targeting four key villages within the catchment area, WWAGS and NABARD plan to revitalize the natural springs, which are vital sources of water for these communities.

The springshed development approach involves scientific techniques to recharge and maintain springs, ensuring a consistent and reliable water supply. This process includes various activities such as geological mapping, water harvesting, afforestation, and community engagement. By rehabilitating these springs, the project aims to enhance water availability for drinking, agriculture, and other essential uses, thereby improving the overall quality of life for the villagers.

WWAGS has a rich history of working towards the socio-economic upliftment of marginalized communities in Manipur. With extensive experience in environmental conservation and rural development, WWAGS brings a unique blend of local knowledge and commitment to this project. Partnering with NABARD, a leading development finance institution, provides the necessary technical expertise and funding to ensure the project's success.

The project will also emphasize community participation and capacity building, ensuring that the local population is actively involved in the restoration efforts. Training programs will be conducted to educate villagers on sustainable water management practices, enabling them to maintain and protect their water resources in the long term.

Through this collaborative initiative, WWAGS and NABARD aim to create a sustainable and resilient water management system that will benefit the communities for generations to come. Restoring water security in these four villages is a significant step towards achieving environmental sustainability and improving the livelihoods of the people in the Wangjing River catchment area.
